Course Overview

The Around Beavertail swim is the host to unique views that you would only get from the water of several iconic landmarks of Rhode Island, including:

Horsehead-Marbella, sat on the Southwest Point and seen on the left when finishing your swim out of Mackerel Cove, Horsehead-Marbella is a historic summer home built for Joseph Wharton in the 1880’s

Upon reaching shore point, swimmers and kayakers can look across the East Passage toward Newport to spot a glimpse of the Castle Hill Lighthouse

Lion Head, these cliffs line the northeast side of Beavertail State Park and accompany right-side breathing swimmers with over a kilometer of spectacular views

As swimmers reach the bottom of the peninsula and round the navigation buoy marking the halfway point in the swim, they get to soak up the beauty and history associated with the Beavertail Lighthouse & State Park

Fort Conanicut, Fort Getty, a view of the Dutch Island Lighthouse & more all make appearances over the 11 km course as well
